摘　　要：利用 Web检索工具的帮助文件 ,比较研究了 Yahoo!、Alta Vista、Infoseek、Excite、Web Crawler和 Magellan的检索性能 ,并通过教育、科普和体育方面的三个查询实例比较研究了 Yahoo!、 Alta Vista和Excite的检索效果。On the basis of the analysis on help texts of Web retrieval tools(including Yahoo!、Alta Vista、Infoseek、Excite、WebCrawlerand and Magellan),the paper discusses their information retrieval characters Then,according to three factual information retrieval cases on education,general knowledge of science and technology and sports,the paper makes a comparative study on the retrieval effects of Yahoo!,Alta Vista and Excite It also gives a few words of odvice on how to obtain effective information thoroughly
