摘　　要：英国17世纪诗人乔治·赫伯特以创作宗教抒情诗为主,在诗集《圣殿》中就美德、信仰与改造个体的关系表达独具一格的见解,他试图用诗歌维系传统的基督教信仰与美德思想,使美德思想在17世纪得到继承与发展,使宗教诗的创作艺术得到发展和超越。本文以赫伯特诗歌的美德主题为考察对象,分析其美德主题的内涵以及诗意呈现方式,探究赫伯特在宗教诗创作中赞颂美德的原因。George Herbert,a British poet in the 17th century, mainly wrote religious lyrics. He expressed special opinions on virtue, faith and individual reform in his poems and essays. He tried to sustain traditional Christian beliefs and virtues by poetry. In this way, the virtuous ethics was inherited and developed in the seventeenth century and the religious poetics was developed and sur- passed. This paper gives a definition of virtue in Herbert＇s poetry and illustrates his poetic creation of virtue, then explores the reason of praising virtue in his religious poems.
