解读V.S.奈保尔在《浮生》中的“自我重塑”

摘　　要：作为英国文坛移民三雄之一,奈保尔的作品总逃不了流亡,身份,文化置换等诸多代表性主题。但他在2001年出版的《浮生》却试图摆脱这些窠臼。在这部有浓厚自传色彩的小说中,通过对文本的分析,可以发现,主人公抛开文化悬垂的尴尬,有意识地选择自己的生活并关注人存在的价值和意义。这是奈保尔试图走出身份迷谭的一种努力。从而,这也为那些为文化身份不确定而苦恼的移民们指出了一条积极的生活之路。As one of the three most famous immigrant writers in England, Naipaul creates works with such typical themes as cultural displacement, exile and identity. But in his novel HalfaLifehe chooses to keep away from these. With the analysis of it is easy to find that unlike what he did in the past, it puts emphasis on the value as a man and the meaning of life without paying attention to embarrassment of identity, which is an indication that Naipaul, in his old age, is trying another way of thinking his immigrant life. It may be a positive suggestion for those immigrants who are puzzled by cultural identity.
