摘　　要：文章选取了四个角度来解读外滩2号——上海外滩华尔道夫酒店。以时间为序,回溯了历史上英商上海总会的建筑艺术价值与社会人文价值;以两座华尔道夫酒店,对应纽约与上海两座城市的关联;以建筑与设计为线索,展现了上海外滩华尔道夫酒店的空间轴线关系;以设计细节的分析,展现了酒店设计的主题内容与逻辑系统。文章试图以另一种诠释来剖析历史建筑作品的生命与设计的价值。This paper tries to interpret The Bund 2-- Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund from four different perspectives. First, it traces the architectural, artistic, social and humanistic values of the original Shanghai Club Building in a chronological sequence. Second, by comparing two Waldorf Hotels in New York and Shanghai respectively, it tries to capture the connections between the two metropolises. Third, it offers an analysis of the spatial axial relations of Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund. And lastly,it presents the features of the hotel＇s design with an analysis of the details. The paper attempts at an alternative interpretation of the life of a heritage building as well as the value of its design.
