莫里森《秀拉》中的人名寓意及原型解读

摘  要:美国黑人女作家托妮·莫里森熟稔《圣经》和古希腊罗马神话,精通神话叙事艺术,她的多部作品均运用人物的姓名,反映他们的个性,暗示他们的命运,使人物姓名成为表现主题的工具、解读作品的扣结。在《秀拉》中,通过赋予人物名字深刻寓意,运用神话原型批评来凸显主题,表现美国黑人的自我意识和文化归属意识。因此,从神话—原型批评的视角来解读《秀拉》这部小说中各人物形象的生命历程,有助于读者更好地把握人物的精神本质以及作品所蕴含的多重寓意。Tony Morrison,a female Afro-American writer, is familiar with the Bible and Greek and Roman mythologies, and mas- ters narrative art of myths. In many of her writings, the characters' names are utilized to reflect their personality and imply their desti-nies, which makes the name become the tool of expressing topics and the key of interpreting writings. In Sula, characters' names are endowed with profound overtones, and the motif is highlighted with mythical-archetype criticism, which embodies self-consciousness and cultural ownership consciousness of the Afro-Americans. Therefore, through analyzing characters' life courses from the perspective of mythical-archetype criticism, readers are able to grasp characters' spiritual essence and writings' multiple overtones.
