摘　　要：传统观点认为英语惯用语没有转换潜力,但根据认知语言学的相关理论,英语惯用语的凝固性是相对的。本文以语块理论为出发点,从认知语言学的隐喻理论角度研究了英语惯用语块生成临时变体的潜力,并指出人类认知能力使英语惯用语块的临时变体能够被理解并使用。The conventional viewpoint is that English idioms can not be transformed, but from the theories of cognitive linguistics, the fixedness of English idioms is relative. This paper takes the chunk theories as the basis to study the potential of forming a temporary variability from the viewpoint of metaphor in cognitive linguistics and points out that the cognitive ability of human being makes it possible to comprehend and apply the temporary varia- bility of English idioms.
