摘　　要：本文概述了1990年12月14日台湾花莲强震群的地震参数及破坏情况,分析了该强震群发生的地震活动背景、序列特征和前兆现象,认为该强震群的发生意味着台湾地区已进入了一个新的地震活动期,90年代将是台湾地震活跃的年代;福建前兆观测台网尽管距其有300公里之遥,但对其 M_S≥7.0地震的中期前兆,具有一定的监测能力,有可能捕捉到前兆信息。This paper describes the parameters,damages caused by the strong swarm that occurred on December 14,1990,in Hualian,Taiwan province,China,and analyzes the seismicity background,the sequence characteristics and the precursory phenomena before the occur- rence of the strong swarm.It is proposed that the occurrence of the strong swarm means the Taiwan region has entered a period of new seismic activity,and the 1990s will be the seismic active years for Taiwan.Although the Fujian Precursor Observational Networks is 300kin distance from Taiwan,yet they have certain capability to monitor medium-term precursors of Ms 7.0 earthquakes occurring in Taiwan,and maybe catch precursory infor- mation.
