With pretreatment sediment from Yellow River as material, pH, temperature, initial concentra- tion of arsenic ( Ⅲ ), sediment grain size and vibration velocity were fitted separately under the optimal ex- perimental condition through orthogonal experiments. The change characteristic of arsenic ( Ⅲ ) sorption was analyzed using regression analysis method. The results showed that there was a significant decrease in the sorption of arsenic when pH changed from 6 to 7 while the sorption of arsenic increased when pH was above 8. The percentage of As(Ⅲ) adsorption was the lowest at 15 ℃, and it increased with the increase of temperature when temperatures was above 15 ℃. The percentage of arsenic adsorption increased with increasing initial concentration of arsenic (Ⅲ), whereas the sediment grain size and vibration velocity had little influence on As adsorption. With the increase of sediment concentration, the percentage of adsorbed As( Ⅲ ) increased while sorption of As( Ⅲ) per unit weight of sorbent decreased. There was a positive rela- tionship between pH, temperature, sediment concentration and arsenic adsorption while there was a nega- tive relationship between the other three factors and arsenic adsorption.
