摘　　要：《最后的莫希干人》是库柏"皮裹腿故事集"中精彩的一部。本文采用文本细读的研究方法对小说进行解读。库柏在作品中创作了永恒的印第安人物形象。由于欧洲殖民者的侵占,北美印第安部落的莫希干族逐渐衰落,他们所创造的文化也随之中断。据调查,印第安的文化现状也不容乐观。库柏有意塑造的不同种族、思想、文明的冲突,在杀戮和血腥之余留给读者广阔的反思空间,题名《最后的莫希干人》的警世和启迪用意不容忽视。The Last of the Mohicans is considered as one of most extraordinary novels in the The Leatherstocking Tales written by James Fennimore Cooper. Intensive Reading of text is implemented in analyzing the novel. Cooper created permanent Indian figures in this work. The Mohicans as one of the Indian tribes gradually declined and so did the Indian traditions and cultures, as the Europeans landed in North America in bulk. According to the survey, the status quo of the Indian culture is not optimistic. Cooper purposefully built the conflicts among the different races, different thoughts and different civilizations, intended to leave the readers a broad space of reflection above the killing and bloody scenes. The warning and enlightenment function of the title ＂The Last of the Mohicans＂ cannot be ignoved.
