摘　　要：改革开放初期(1978-1989年),学者们对于以莎士比亚为代表的早期英国戏剧研究倾注了极大热情,做了很多有益的工作,其主要特征包括:(1)有意识地以马克思主义为指导,强调人文主义(人道主义);(2)注重基础建设;(3)与西方的文化交流复苏;(4)比较研究勃兴;(5)许多论著生动可读。但整体上工作还比较薄弱。In 1978-1989 Chinese scholars made considerable achievements in their studies of Shakespeare and early English drama. We observe mainly： （1） conscious guidelines of Marxism and an emphasis on humanism （humanitarianism）; （2） a special attention to infrastructural construction; （3） a renewal of cultural exchanges with the West; （4） the rise of comparative studies; （5） the readability of many writings. On the whole, however, the research work was still weak.
