摘 要:目的论证在昆明医科大学开展医学英语(EMP)教学的可能性和必要性.方法问卷调查法调查昆明医科大学学生语言能力倾向和对医学英语课的需求,统计他们的四级成绩和实际选课情况,并做相应的统计分析.结果调查和统计表明昆明医科大学76.84%的学生具有较好的语言能力倾向,68.5%的学生有较强的医学英语学习需求,2011级四级累计通过39.28%,过关学生的平均分为456.09,2012级对应数据分别是45.09%和461.53,逐年提高的四级成绩提供了学习医学英语的客观条件之一,实际选课情况证明医学英语课符合他们的需求.结论统一的基础英语课程与学生的兴趣和能力不完全匹配,如果要充分利用学生的语言天赋、满足他们的学习需求,就应当把教学中心向EMP方向转移,从而增强语言教学的实用性.Objective The purpose of this paper is to argue for the necessity and possibility of teaching English for medical purpose (EMP) in our university.Methods Students' language aptitudes and learning needs for medical English were investigated by questionnaires,the data about students' achievements on CET-4 and their enrollment on EMP courses were collected,and all data were statistically analyzed.Results 76.84% students on our campus have good language aptitude and 68.5% students have strong desire for EMP.Their CET-4 achievements are improving (the average score for Grade 2011 is 456.09 and 461.53 for Grade 2012,while the accumulative pass rates of CET-4 are 39.28% for Grade 2011 and 45.09% for Grade 2012),which provide a sound foundation for EMP courses.The actual EMP course enrollment is satisfactory.Conclusion It is necessary to reform the present curriculum into the one including EMP courses so that students can maintain their interests in English learning and gain greater benefit for their future careers.
