西方传教士在阿拉伯民族觉醒运动中的作用

摘　　要：18至19世纪,西方传教活动为对外界一无所知的阿拉伯人打开了一扇"天窗",使他们突然接触到西方先进的科技与革命思想,让这些在奥斯曼土耳其政府"愚民"政策统治下的人们从中世纪的酣梦中惊醒,阿拉伯民族意识逐渐在人们的心中燃起。本文以阿拉伯民族意识觉醒的发轫之地——沙姆地区为例,探讨了西方传教士在阿拉伯民族觉醒过程中所发挥的重要作用。This paper discusses the important role played by the Western missionaries in the Arab national awakening movement. Missionary activity opened a window for the Arabs who knew nothing about the outside world and brought them into contact with the advanced Western technology and revolutionary ideas. Like a bolt of lightning to the people under the rule of Osman Turkey which kept the people in ignorance, it not only waked up Arabs from the Middle Ages intoxicated dream, but also lighted the spark of Arab national consciousness. This paper tries to discuss the contribution of the Western missionaries from two aspects, one is ＂the integration between the Catholic and Bilad Al -sham＂ while the other the ＂cultural communication and development in Bilad Al -sham＂.
