英华书院与晚清翻译人才之培养——以袁德辉、马儒翰为中心的考察

摘　　要：在中西文化交流史上占有重要地位的英华书院,在培养翻译人才方面亦颇有成就,袁德辉和马儒翰无疑是其中最负盛名者:袁德辉成为林则徐翻译班子重要成员,马儒翰则担任英方首席翻译。他们以其翻译作为对晚清中外关系乃至中外文化交流施加了重要影响,清政府亦藉此认识到培养外交、翻译人才的重要性,京师同文馆及各地广方言馆等学堂的设立就是这种认识的体现。The Anglo - Chinese College trained translators, which occupied an important place during the Sino - Western cultural exchanges. Yuan De - hui and John Robert Morrison were easily representatives in it. Yuan De - hui became the im- portant member in Lin Ze - xu＇ s translation group, and John Robert Morrison served as a chief interpreter at the British repre- sentation. Their translation brought about profound impacts on Sino -Western relation and cultural exchanges,which made Qing government realized the importance of training diplomatic personnel and translators, the establishment of Capital Tong Wen College and Dialect Hall of various places reflected this understanding.
