巴别塔和巴别鱼的启示——普及专门用途英语助力河南区域经济发展

摘　　要：专门用途英语是发展区域经济的助推器,力量不可小视。但是,长期以来专门用途英语基本上为英语专业垄断,并没有在高校英语教学中普及。河南被纳入三大国家战略规划区域,正在努力将国家战略转化为区域发展新优势,高素质人力资源是河南走向世界的根本保证。本文紧密结合河南区域经济发展特点和丰富的传统文化资源优势,提出普及科技经贸英语和普及传统文化英语表述能力是加快河南区域经济建设不容忽视的问题。ESP is named as the propeller to regional economic development. While, for so long, ESP has been taught only as an English major in foreign language department instead of being popularized in college English teaching. He＇nan Province, having been brought into the national strategic plan in development, is trying to transform the national strategy into the new advantages of regional development,in which,human resources of high-qual-ity are the fundamental guarantee for He＇nan to develop outside. Based on the characteristics of He＇nan＇s economic development and the superiority of He＇nan＇s traditional culture, this article promotes the importance to popularize ESP in both aspects of science, economy and trade and traditional culture as well.
