近代潮汕侨批与墟市的发展关系刍议

摘　　要：近代以来,潮汕侨批发展迅速,形成了覆盖各城乡地区的经营网络,并与传统的墟市体系相互交织。近代潮汕的墟市数量在民国后期也出现了激增的现象,隐然呈现向现代转型的迹象。在潮汕墟市缓慢地由传统向现代的转型进程中,海外华侨寄回的投资性汇款和捐赠性汇款,以及大量批业商号的进驻等因素都起到了一定的推动作用。但与此同时,作为侨批汇款中最为重要组成部分的赡养性汇款,却又在某种程度上阻碍了这一进程。In modern times, Chaoshan remittance-mails developed rapidly into a network covering the whole district, intertwined with traditional market system. At the same time the number of the markets experienced a sudden increase, betraying an inclination of modern transition. The remitted investment and donation of the overseas Chinese and the arrival of remittance companies motivated this modern transition. However, the remitted maintenance, the most important part of overseas remittance, hindered this process in some degree.
