摘　　要：在基伦斯的长篇巨著《杨布拉德》中,"保护南方淑女的贞洁"被界定为南方白人男性气概的主要伦理诉求和衡量标准。然而,小说中约翰等南方白人男性在这一幌子下却在白人女性与黑人身上做出了种种良知泯灭、道德沦丧之事。本文运用文学伦理学批评方法,结合美国南方性别文化传统,通过对该男性气概特性的伦理分析,揭示约翰等白人男性种种道德失范行为背后的客观原因,以期为当下人们对男性气概的认知与学术界对男性气概的研究提供启示。In John Killens＇s great novel Youngblood, ＂To Protect Southern Womanhood＂ is defined as the main ethical appeal and standard of southern white masculinity. Yet under this cover, John and other southern white males have done various inhuman and immoral things upon white females and black people. In light of Ethical Literary Criticism and with a consideration of southern gender culture of the South of America, this paper tries to carry out a deep analysis of the ethical nature of that masculinity, so as to disclose the ethical reasons behind the immoral behaviors of John and other white males, which may shed some light on people＇s cognition in reality and the study of masculinity in the academic world.
