融合心灵——认知科学新范式下的4E整合

摘　　要：当代认知科学正在发生从笛卡尔式的研究范式向非笛卡尔式的研究范式的转移。马克·罗兰兹重新审视4E认知理论,将体化心灵与延展心灵整合为一种统一的反笛卡尔主义的认知科学新理论:融合心灵。罗兰兹以认知标志为融合心灵辩护,利用其中的意向性论证策略,使融合心灵成为一个融贯的系统。罗兰兹的融合心灵实际上仍是延展心灵的一个版本,其认知标志存在循环论证、表征、认知膨胀等问题,意向性论证策略似乎并未给予延展心灵和体化心灵的融合以有力的说明,而将4E整合为2E,未免抹杀了嵌入认知和生成认知的功能。此外,罗兰兹所支持的积极的延展心灵论也存在自身的理论难题。罗兰兹对4E认知整合的尝试虽然存在诸多问题,却极大地丰富了当代认知科学的发展。Traditional cognition theory limits cognition to the interior of the mind.While with the development of 4Etheory,a new kind of cognition is generating.This theory holds that cognition can extend beyond the brain.Mark Rowlands has combined embodied mind and extended mind of the 4Etheory as amalgamated mind,so as to lay foundation of non-Cartesian cognition and create the new science of mind.At the same time,the amalgamated mind has to solve the problem of incompatibility between embodied mind and extended mind,and needs a mark of cognition and the strategy of intentionality to endow cognitive status to the body and environment in their manipulation and transformation of information-bearing structures.Despite the existing problems in his integration of 4Ecognition,he eniches its theoretical development.
