遗失的画稿——纪念敦煌研究院成立七十周年

摘　　要：五十多年前,笔者随北大阎文儒先生进行全国石窟寺调查,收集到数百幅图像资料。然而先生的著作尚未出版使用,却在"文革"中悄然遗失。致使相关单位和个人蒙受了很大损失,也使图像制作者八九个月的心血付诸东流。半个世纪之后的今天,遗失的画稿仍杳无音信。阎文儒先生早已作古,画稿作者也成为高龄老人。回首往事,耿耿于怀,特撰此稿。一来在谢世之前,就此事对相关单位作一个交代,二来对尊敬的阎文儒先生略表缅怀之情,三来以此纪念敦煌研究院成立七十周年华诞。这段难忘的经历是敦煌石窟考古工作早期的一个片断。More than fifty years ago, I went with Mr. Yan Wenru to investigate all the cave temples in China and collected hundreds of images. However, these images disappeared during the ＂ Cultural Revolution＂ before Mr. Yan published his work, not only causing great loss to relevant institutions and individuals, but also wasting several months of the image-maker＇s efforts. Today, a half century later, the images are still nowhere to be found. Mr. Yan Wenru has long-since passed away, and the image-maker is also very old. It still rankles my mind when I look back. So I write this article to explain the whole event to the relevant institutions before 1 die, to commemorate Mr. Yan Wenru, and to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Dunhuang Academy, because this unforgettable event is also a part of the initial cave archaeological work at Dunhuang.
