Samples ignited were decomposed with HCl and Sb was driven off to eliminate the interference effect from Sb on determination of Au by AAS. The optimized conditions and effectiveness for the removal of Sb in samples by HCl were discussed. The method has been applied to the determination of gold in antimony ores. The results were in agreement with those from the method with removal of Sb by HBr. The recoveries of standard additions were 98%~104% with precision of <2.5% RSD( n =5).
