摘　　要：新世纪的新春里,一条有关港城烟台的新闻频繁地在海内外众多媒体上出现:第二届APEC投资博览会将于6月9日至15日在山东烟台举办。 这是继1997年6月的第二届APEC国际贸易博览会和1998年10月的第二届APEC中小企业技术交流暨展览会之后,烟台代表国家承办的又一次APEC重大经贸活动。 一石入水,浪花四溅。● An investment bidding mart almost becomes the 'laud fair' for Yantai. The lauds are from the Japanese businessmen, who have always been famous to be smart and strict.● Australian former Prime Minister Hawke asserts: 'With their stupendous efforts, Yantai people have organized APEC Mart very successfully. If I were required to give marks, I would give them full marks.'● Through constant efforts over the recent years, a new page has been uncovered on Yantai's cooperation with members of APEC in the economic and trade areas. At present, in Yantai, the accumulated investment and cooperative projects, contracted foreign funds and actual investment capitals from APEC members have reached 5,451, 6.53 billion US dollars and 3.98 billion US dollars respectively, amounting for ninety-three per cent, eighty-five per cent and eighty-seven per cent of that of the total of the city respectively.● 'Counting on the APEC Investment Mart, we will speed up Yantai's opening up to the outside world, accelerate the transformation and upgrade of the industrial structures and propel Yantai to follow the international economic practice.' Ren Haishen, Secretary of the Municipal Committee of the CPC of Yantai, plans much room for developing deep economic and trade cooperation between Yantai and the APEC organization.
