摘　　要：Rapid growth of Internet traffic and increasing requirement for service quality have made traffic engineering an essential consideration in the operation of large Internet backbone networks. Historically,traffic engineering in the Internet has been hampered by the conventional IP technologies. This article discusses the challenge of Internet Traffic Engineering and the applications of MPLS to traffic engineering in IP networks.Rapid growth of Internet traffic and increasing requirement for service quality have made traffic engineering an essential consideration in the operation of large Internet backbone networks. Historically ,traffic engineering in the Internet has been hampered by the conventional IP technologies. This article discusses the challenge of Internet Traffic Engineering and the applications of MPLS to traffic engineering in IP networks.
