Objective To explore the clinical significance and relationship between platelet activation and enhanced coagulability and the lung diseases. Methods Plasma levels of α granule membrane protein (GMP 140) and fibrin D dimer were measured by two layer antibody sandwich enzyme linked immunosorbent assay in 25 patients with pulmonary heart disease, 15 patients with lung cancer, 36 patients with lung tuberculosis and 20 healthy people as control group. Results The differences were significant comparing the plasma levels of GMP 140 and D dimer in patients with pulmonary heart disease and lung cancer with those in control group (P<0.01). Differences were highly significant comparing the levels of GMP 140 in patients of the cancer with those in them of pulmonary heart disease and lung tuberculosis (P<0.01). The levels of GMP 140 and D dimer increased in patients with lung tuberculosis but differences were not significant (P>0.05) as compared with those in control group. Conclusion Platelet activation, enhanced coagulability and endotheliocyte damage possess important effects in the occurrence and development of pulmonary heart disease and lung cancer.
