Objective To explore the effects of the non-paper examination model in the cell biology course among undergraduates majoring in biological science. Methods Taking the undergraduate students majoring in bioscience in the grade 2015 received traditional paper examination and undergraduate students majoring in bioscience in the grade 2016 adopt the non-paper examination in a certain university as the research objects. The average score of the examination paper, the proportion of the examinees in each score segment, and the ratio of subjective questions and objective questions with scoring rate ≥90% had been compared. Results Compared with the traditional paper test model, the non-paper test did not significantly affect the test paper scores and the proportion of the examinees in each score segment, and significantly reduced the proportion of subjects and objective questions scoring rate ≥ 90%. Conclusions The non-paper examination mode reform with great significance to the improvement of talent quality and the construction of a conservation-oriented society. It was shown that the non-paper test model was worth promoting in other majors and other courses.
