摘　　要：15 8 4年肇庆两次 5 0级地震属于双震。两次地震等烈度线长轴均呈北西向。震中附近有两条较大的断裂 ,一是北东向高要断裂 ,它是吴川 -四会断裂的分支断裂 ,并控制了一系列地震分布 ,可谓之控震构造。另一条是北西向白土断裂 ,与两次地震等烈度线长轴一致 ,联系到 190 5年 4 级地震也发生在此断裂附近 ,该断裂应是本次地震发震构造。Two M5 0 earthquakes occurred in Zhaoqing city,Guang dong province in 1584 are isolated double earthquakes. The long axes of the isoseismal lines of the two earthquakes are both orientated in NW direction. Near these epicenters there are two big faults. One is the branch of Wuchuan-Sihui fault controlling the distribution of a series of earthquakes, namely, earthquake-controlling structure. The other is Baitu fault in NW strike, which direction is consistent with the long axes of the isoseismal lines. In relation with the M43/4 earthquake that occurred near the fault in 1909,it is concluded that the fault is the statutory.
