摘　　要：根据集合论和拓扑学的有关理论 ,导出了点状地图符号、线状地图符号和面状地图符号的数学定义。This paper studies the mathematical definitions of point,line and area symbols in cartography according to the set theory and topology.A figure is composed of point and line cartographic symbols and it is the main body of map.The ground is composed of area cartographic symbols.The figure and ground play the whole function in the transmission of geographical information.
