Objective The aim of the study was to assess the current status on high-risk sexual behaviors for HIV/AIDS among minority floating population and to analyze the influence of migration mode on those behaviors. Methods Between July-October of 2012, stage-wise sampling was used to randomly select 845 sexually active temporary residents employed in minority concentrated factories, construction sites, and service establishments in Xingyi City, Qixingguan District, and Weining County in Guizhou Province. The subjects were one-on-one interviewed and surveyed anonymously on their high-risk sexual behaviors for HIV/AIDS. The results were statistically analyzed by multiple logistic stepwise regression. Results The constituent ratio of high-risk sexual behaviors for HIV/AIDS (including commercial sex or sex with temporary or multiple sex partners) among the minority temporary residents was 66.8%, higher than the 49.8% among the Han temporary residents (P〈0.01). Statistically significant differences in high-risk sexual behaviors were observed between different ethnics, gender, ages, marital status, type of migration, and the number of migrated cities (towns). Miao and Bouy temporary residents were more likely to conduct high-risk sexual behaviors for HIV/AIDS than Han temporary residents, with an OR value of 3.88 and 2.08, respectively. High-risk sexual behaviors for HIV/AIDS occurred more often in male over female temporary residents, in floating population migrated cross-county or cross-town over those migrated cross-province, and in floating population migrated to three different cities (towns) over those migrated only once, with the OR value being 2.37, 1.75, 2.27, and 2.17, respectively. Temporary residents over the age of 35 were less likely to conduct high-risk sexual behaviors for HIV/AIDS than those between the age of 15-24, with an OR value of 0.55. Conclusion Minority floating population has a higher tendency than Han floating population in conducting high-risk sexual behaviors for HIV/AIDS, and
