摘　　要：美国瑶族文献是以口承与文本形式保存的瑶族"集体记忆",再现了瑶族族源传说以及境外迁徙之史实。这种"记忆"具有文化储存与文化认同的功能,其中的一些核心符号,构成瑶族记忆链中的重要环节,是美国瑶人在新的文化境域中进行文化重构的基础。在文化"失忆"的情况下,这些记忆符号还起着文化"修复"的重要作用。Yao literature in America is a ＂collective memory＂ of the Yao people kept in forms of oral narration and written texts, revealing the legends of the Yao ethnic origin and the history of cross - border migrations. This ＂memory＂ has the functions of cuhural preservation and cultural identity： Some of the core symbols constitute an essential part of the memory chain, and a basis of Yao American＇ s cultural reconstruction under their new living environments. In the situation of cultural ＂ amnesia＂ , these memory symbols also have the foundation of culture ＂restoration＂.
