摘　　要：科马克·麦卡锡通过重新构想美国西部,解构小说人物的种族/文化完整性,运用双重边界,建立起美利坚性和跨民族性之间的关联。他利用并改变美国西部小说的主要因素,在参与的同时超越了这一文学类型,为现代美国与其他民族间关系提供了一种批判性的视角,这不仅说明美国西部小说这一文学类型的效用性与丰富性,而且说明他能在继承和发扬中对美国文化的变迁作出回应。这种解读模式突破了跨民族美国研究只关注少数族裔作家或流散作家的局限,将其上升为一种适用于所有跨民族文学的阐释框架。Cormac McCarthy sets up co -ordinations between Americanness and transnationality in his re - conception of the West, deconstruction of the racial/cultural integrity of his characters, and deployment of dual borders. His participation in and transgression of the genre of Western American fiction through invoking yet modifying its conventional elements to provide a critical index to modern America in its relationality to other nations not only speaks to the utility and richness of the genre but also illustrates his originality as well as ability to respond to chan- ges in American culture. This model of interpretation suggests that transnational American studies can go beyond ethnic or diasporic writers, and can therefore be expanded in its scope of application to transnational literature in general.
