摘　　要：18世纪的英国,女性依旧不能接受与男子相同的学校教育。为此,女性主义的先驱们奔走呼号,争取促成女性与男性平等的受教育的权利。而当时的女作家简·奥斯丁却将目光投向女性的心智教育,因为在她看来,这关系到年轻女性在社会的生存与否,是首当其冲最需要迫切解决的问题。分析奥斯丁几部经典作品中的人物经历,本文发现作家始终关注年轻女性在社会、人生中的成长与发展,只有她们能清楚地认识自己、他人与社会,并对事物有独立见解与判断,才能了解人与事物的本质。在面对人生重大选择时才能做出最佳选择,使自己在这个不利的社会中得以生存。并且,奥斯丁清晰地预见工业革命将给英国女性的生活带来巨大变化,将令她们走出家庭步入社会生活,由此更突显出女性心智教育的重要性,这反映出她的思想已超越当时女性主义的高度并对其是一个有益的补充。In the 18th-century Britain, women were still unable to receive the same school education as men. For this reason, forerunners of feminism strove hard to promote women＇ s equal right to get the same education as men. Compared with those forerunners who stressed women＇ s intellectual education, Jane Austen mainly concentrated on their EQ education. To her mind, young women＇ s EQ education was the first priority to be addressed because it concerned their survival in society. Through analyzing the life experiences of the heroines of Austen canon, this paper finds Austen was constantly concerned about young women＇ s growth and development in life and society. Only when they could recognize themselves, others and society, and form independent and sound judgements on their surroundings, could they see the true nature of people and events and thus make the most favorable decisions for their life in this unfavorable world. Besides, Austen foresaw in her work that Industrial Revolution would definitely produce dramatic changes to women＇ s life, making them go out of their families and get more involved in social life. Hence, this highlights the importance of women＇ s EQ education. This idea obviously reveals that Austen＇ s feministic thought surpasses the feminism of her time and is a helpful complement to it.
