Objective This paper focused on the effect of different physical activity(PA)levels on the inhibition ability and central nerve activity of the elderly in order to provide evidence for slowing down the decline process of inhibition ability. Methods Drawing support from the behavioral surveillance and event-related potential technique,we collected the behavior and electroencephalographic data of the aged women with different physical activity level during undertaking the response inhibition task. Results(1)The Go reaction time(RT)of high-level PA group is significantly shorter than the moderate-level PA group(P〈 0.01),and Nogo successful inhibition ratio of high-level PA group is slightly better than moderate PA group.(2)The amplitudes of N2 and P3 waves provoked by high-level PA is lower, and the latency periods of Go-N2 at frontal area and of Nogo-P3 at parietal area provoked by high-level PA are shorter than that by moderate PA. Conclusion The aged women with high-level PA enjoy better reaction and inhibition ability, reflecting in faster cognitive processing, wider attention resources allocation and stronger behavioral inhibition.
