摘　　要：图书情报学家兰开斯特教授在其数十载学术生涯中硕果累累。文章通过梳理兰开斯特教授多本经典著作,结合后人对其著作的文献计量分析和h指数分析,探讨其学术思想,以促进深化国内图书情报学的理论和实践研究。Over a period of four decades Professor Lancaster has continuously emerged as a famous scholar in the field of library and information science（ LIS）. He has a high reputation and great influence in the area of underlying structure for online retrieval systems,subject analysis,thesaurus construction,assessment system in library science. He is famous for his accurate prediction of a ＂paperless society ＂ and specialization in bibliometrics. Combing the profound analysis of his classical works and the h index by his followers,the authors of this article are aiming at promoting the researches on the theories and practices of the library and information science in China.
