摘　　要：这是一篇现代卫生微生物学如何创建的回忆报告,比较详细的纪述了建立这一新学科的来龙去脉,它的特性,在公共卫生中的地位以及与其他相关学科的异同。Modem Sanitary Microbiology（ M. S. M. ）, the study of the relationship between microbes and the environment and of minimizing microbial harm to humans, is a modem science that has grown to become the basis of public health study in universities and medical colleges in the past thirty years. Yu, the founder of M. S. M. as a field, provides a retrospective that details the journey of the creation and development of M. S. M. , including essential laboratory methods for isolating microbes from soil, water, air, food, and cosmetics, as well as special environments, such as hospitals and microbiology laboratories. Yu emphasizes that the ecological study of microbes＇ natural and adaptive habitats is the key factor in this modem science. 200032, China
