摘 要:"中体西用"与"科玄论战"这两场文化论战有着深刻的关联。"中体西用"以"用"的名义论证了西学传入的合理性与合法性,促进科学在近代中国由"功利之用"过渡到了"文化启蒙",为"科玄论战"的爆发埋下了诱因;而"科玄论战"后,科学社会功能的全面扩张则破除了以"体用"来会通东西的樊篱,在很大程度上结束了"中体西用"的历史,在新的时代背景下实现科学基础上的文化整合。The proposition 'Chinese learning for fundamentals, Western learning for use' and the controversy over science and metaphysics are closely connected. The former demonstrates in the name of its utility the rationality and legitimacy of the Western culture to spread into China. The proposition promotes the transition of science in modern China from practical utility to a cultural enlightenment and is the inducement for the outbreak of the controversy over science and metaphysics. The full expansion of the social function of science after the controversy, on the other hand, has cleared the barrier for the East and the West to connect each other. To a great extent, the expansion has put an end to the controversy and achieved cultural integration in the new era.
