从“Thibet”到“Tibet”:近现代美国入藏考察与《纽约时报》涉藏报道

摘　　要：1946年以前,美国大众报刊涉藏报道与美国入藏考察关系密切。通过对1851-1946年近百年间《纽约时报》近400篇涉藏新闻报道的梳理,同时对英文"西藏"一词西方早期使用的"Thibet"到后期"Tibet"拼写历史变化进行的词频分析,可探寻出1946年之前美国大众报刊涉藏报道的发展特点:从依赖欧洲新闻稿源走向独立话语表达、从传播一般知识到自身媒介导向不断增强。Reports on Tibet by popular newspapers and periodicals in America were deeply concerned with American explorations into Tibet before 1946.Through summarizing features of the explorations and probing the motives and effects of the reports on Tibet by The New York Times,and by analyzing its media discourse right,text types and contents,this research finds that American reports on Tibet experienced transitions from using European sources to independent reporting;and from communications of general information to a strengthening of media positions.
