Objective To investigate the significance of spectral Doppler ultrasound in evaluating left ventricular diastolic function in middle-aged people with sub-health status. Methods A total of 400 people aged 30-50 years old underwent physical examination with spectral Doppler ultrasound,of whom 200 cases were in sub-health status(group A) and 200 cases were in healthy status(group B) diagnosed according to the criteria of The US Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Data of mitral valve flow spectrum were analyzed and compared. Results The incidence rate of abnormal mitral valve flow spectrum was significantly higher in group A than that in group B [90.0% (180/200) vs. 2.5% (5/200)] (P〈0. 01). Left ventricular isovolumetric relaxation time, early diastolic blood flow deceleration time, peak early diastolic blood flow velocity and peak late diastolic blood flow velocity were higher, the E/A ratio was less, in group A than those in group ]3 (P^0. 01). Conclusion The left ventricular diastolic function is reduced in middle-aged people with sub-health status indicating that the risk for organic damage of cardiovascular system exists.
