Objective To explore intelligence and activity of daily living of senile and non-senile patients with delayed encephalopathy after acute carbon monoxide poisoning (DEACM P) in acute phase and conva-lescent period .Methods Assessments were conducted with the Activity of Daily Living Scale (ADL) ,In-formation-Memory-Concentration Test (IMCT ) and Hasegawa Dementia Scale (HDS ) in 64 senile and non-senile DEACMP patients .Results ADL scores of both groups lowered more significantly in convales-cent period than acute phase (P〈0 .01) ,but were significantly higher than normal value ;IMCT and HDS scores of both groups heightened more significantly in convalescent period than acute phase (P〈0 .01) , but were significantly lower than normal value ;there were no significant group differences in score of each scale in the corresponding period (P〉 0 .05) .Conclusion Convalescent intelligence and activity of daily living of both senile and non-senile DEACM P patients improve notably ,their patient’s condition ,changes of patient’s condition and treatment effectiveness are basically coincident ,DEACM P’s prognosis has noth-ing to do with age factors .
