Objective To know the prevalence and antimicrobial susceptibility of Campylobacter Spp.in diarrhea patients in Pudong new district of Shanghai, and provide foundation for evaluating the epidemic trend of Campylobacter Spp.and making viable control measures. Methods From June 2011 to May 2012,infectious diarrhea patients of 13 monitoring hospitals were involved to detect the Campylobacter using modified culture and separation method. Results A total of 127 Campylobacter strains were isolated from 2 532 diarrhea specimens, including 106 Campylobacter jejuni isolates(4.19%) and 21 Campylobacter coli isolates(0.83%).The infection rate was higher in urban area than suburban area, higher in spring and autumn than summer(χ2= 12.17,P〈0.01).The 106 Campylobacter jejuni isolates were highly sensitive to azithromycin(91.04%),followed by erythromycin(86.57%),but highly resistant to cefoxitin(98.51%),followed by nalidixic acid(97.76%),co-trimoxazole(96.27%),cefuroxime(92.54%),norfloxacin(91.79%).Conclusion The Campylobacter has been one of the most important pathogens in diarrhea crowd in Pudong new area, and the antibiotic resistance is quite serious.
