摘　　要：《东方兵事纪略》向为治甲午中日战争史的学者所推崇,这部书在甲午中日战争失败后一年多即编纂完成。姚锡光因为不满英国人林乐知、蔡尔康撰辑的《中日战纪本末》体例、剪裁、叙事方式和议论风格,故从1896年5月开始即有意搜集公私档案、函牘、日记、口述史史料,撰成全面反映甲午战争全过程的史书。Dongfang Bingshi Jilue has been highly praised by scholars engaging in research on SinoJapanese war＇s history, this book finished codification more than a year after the defeat of Sino-Japanese war. Because of dissatisfaction with the British Lin Le Cai Erkang＇s clipping, narrative and comment style of Zhongri Zhanji Benmo, Yao Xiguang is interested in collecting private archives, letters, diaries,history of oral historical materials, and has compiled history books fully reflecting the whole process of the war history.
