摘　　要：详细介绍了美国公共图书馆的四项功能:信息获取和传播知识的资讯功能,教育功能,满足娱乐需求的功能和社会公益功能;及其服务特点有:普及性和开放性,服务的便捷性,服务的多样化,优秀的场馆硬件设施和良好的服务环境。This article introduced detailed four functions of American public library： information acquisition and knowledge dissemination, education, entertainment, social benefit. And the service characteristics of American public library were also presented： universality and Openness, service convenience, service diversity, good hardware facilities and environment.
