Objective To evaluate the image quality and noise using different levels of iterative reconstruction technique (SAFIRE)on brain CT scan ,and to explore the best level iterative reconstruction which can provide the best image quality . Methods Siemens Somatom Definition Flash CT was used to perform brain CT examination on 40 patients .The original data of every case were reconstructed using traditional filtered back projection (FBP) and five different levels of iterative reconstruction techniques (SAFIRE1‐5)respectively .The image CT values ,noise ,GM visibility and contrast to noise ratio(CNR) of different levels of reconstruction images were analyzed statistically .The image quality was reviewed by two experienced doctors double-blindly using 5‐score system .Results ① There was no significant difference between SAFIRE2 and SAFIRE3 scores and the image quality were best .②The noise ,SNR and CNR .values of SAFIRE1-SAFIRE5 images were all better than those of FBP . While there was no significant difference in gray matter contrast .Conclusion On brain CT examination ,compared with FBP , the application of iterative reconstruction techniquecan significandy improve image quality and reduce image noise .
