近代潮汕墟市的发展与特征略论

摘　　要：墟市不仅是潮汕地区商业贸易的中心地,也是各方宗族势力互相较量的关键场所,同时还是民间宗教信仰、公众活动的重要空间。从数量、规模、开市频率和租税等方面看,近代以来潮汕地区的墟市可以称得上处于一个相对较高的发展水平;而且在发展的过程中,呈现出浓厚的宗族色彩、鲜明的侨资元素、缓慢的转型过程和多功能的社会公共空间等特点。这表明墟市在潮汕地方社会变迁过程中有着不可忽视的重要作用。The market was not only the center of commercial trade in Chaoshan area, and the key place which all clans were competing with each other, but also the important space for folk religion and public activities. According to the quantity, scale, opening frequency and tax and so on, the market of Chaoshan area can be said to be at a relatively high level of development since the modern times. In the process of development, it had exhibited many features such as strong clan features, obvious elements of overseas Chinese investment, slow transformation process and multi-functional place for public activities, etc.These show that the market had played an important role in social change in Chaoshan area.
