Owing to the feature of PCM that could absorb or release a large amount of heat and keep temperature constant during phase transition, the PEG/SiO2 phase change particles prepared by Sol-Gel method are added into Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) mixture to replace the fine aggregate less than 0. 6 mm by the equal-volume method. The influence of PEG/SiO2 phase change particles on the temperature sensibility and high temperature stability of 4 graded HMA are studied. The result shows that ( 1 ) the addition of PEG/ SiO2 phase change particles could reduce the temperature sensibility of HMA, the effect is more obvious with the increase of the content, the maximum cooling of HMA adding 5% PEG/SiO2 phase change particles is over 5 ℃ under natural light, and the influence of different graduations on temperature sensibility of HMA are not obvious; (2) the influence of the phase change particles on the high temperature stability of HMA is related to the amount of phase change particles and the graduation type of HMA; the addition of the phase change particles could reduce the peak temperature of HMA, and could alleviate the rutting disease of asphalt pavement at high temperature.
