摘　　要：美国浪漫主义作家纳撒尼尔·霍桑的短篇小说《小伙子古德曼·布朗》描述了布朗赴魔鬼之约的一次旅行,这也是一次充满矛盾的心灵之旅。以结构主义的二元对立理论为视角来解读这篇小说,有助于阐释小说主题原罪与赎罪的对立、人物善与恶的对立以及背景白与黑的对立。Young Goodman Brown is one of the short stories of Hawthorne,American famous repre-sentative of Romanticism.The story describes Brown’s journey to attend Devil’s appointment,also a spirit-ual j ourney full of conflicts.By means of binary opposition under Structuralism,this paper attempts to an-layze the conflicts between original sin and atonement of theme,the conflicts between goodness and evil of character,and the conflicts between white and black of setting.
