摘　　要：文章探讨了在中国兴建现代独户住宅的特殊性,以及建筑师、开发商和终端用户所面临的种种挑战,并通过回溯"聚舍"的兴建背景及香港升建筑设计有限公司之前的作品,思考如果中国建筑师被剥夺了在独户住宅实验其建筑概念的机会,中国建筑的未来要建基何处的问题。This essay explained the unique market for single family house in China and the challenges faced by the architects, developers and end users. History of modern architecture reminds us of the importance of single family house as an architecturallaboratory. Through discussing some works of Index Architecture and the experimental relationships with Tapered House project, the essay questions if Chinese architects are deprived of the opportunity to test and experiment, at the fundamental scale, in single family house, what holds the future of Architecture infrom China？
