摘　　要：方言是某一地区民俗文化的载体,它是传统文化赖以留存、传承的媒介。方言反映了当地文化,文化又影响了方言的发展。自18世纪起,勇于闯荡的潮汕先民陆续向海外大量移民,"过番"寻求生计。因此,潮汕地区拥有众多的海外华侨,是全国著名的侨乡。透过潮汕方言,我们可以了解"过番"文化;而"过番"活动也对潮汕地区和侨居国的语言有一定的影响。Dialect, which is the medium for traditional culture to be retained and inherited, is a folk culture carrier in a certain area. Dialect reflects the local culture and culture influences the development of dialect. Since the eighteenth century, a large number of courage Chaoshan ancestors have moved overseas, trying to making a living through Guofan （过番）. Therefore, Chaoshan area which has numerous overseas Chinese is famous as a hometown for overseas Chinese. We can understand the Guofan （过番）culture through the Chaoshan dialect. And the activity of Guofan （过番） also has some effect on the language of Chaoshan area and country of residence.
