摘 要:亨利·詹姆斯是享誉英美文坛的小说家、评论家。然而,从早期辉煌的创作成就到后期艰涩的三部巨著,詹姆斯始终颠簸在文学批评潮流的风口浪尖。詹姆斯后期的规避迂回风格到底是由于专注技巧而变得麻木迟钝,还是在新的艺术高度上的一种独特创造?批评家们对此据理相持。目前国内的詹姆斯研究尚未形成系统和规模,对詹姆斯的后期风格更缺乏整体观照。对国内外詹姆斯后期创作研究现状进行梳理和比较,重新审视和解读詹姆斯后期风格,全面理解并深入挖掘詹姆斯文学创作的艺术价值,不仅势在必行,而且具有重要意义。Henry James was the well-known novelist and critic in both British and American literature. Whereas, from the early brilliant achievements to later three elusive works, Henry James was all the way bobbing up and down in the tide of literary criticism. Whether the later elusive and circuitous style was a numbness resulting from the author's devotion to techniques or a unique creation based on a higher level of artistic pursuit? Critics stalemate according to their just grounds. The study on Henry James is still on the way for its systematization and dimensions,let alone the integral contemplation of the style of late Henry James. This paper hackles the researching work on Henry James,especially his later phase,both in and outside of China, which aims to helping readers fully understand Henry James and appreciate the literary and artistic values in his writing.
