摘　　要：家宅空间是威廉·福克纳的小说《八月之光》的叙事要素,更隐含着丰富的主体存在意蕴。私密的家宅是主体内在自我认知的空间表征,是个体历史的积淀,以"具身化"方式展现了美国南方压抑、严苛环境下主体存在的困境;而家宅同样是各种社会力量的表征空间,是禁锢主体自由的他者力量,从而见证当下主体的抗争,成为主体发展的推动力。这种家宅与主体之间的认同、争执的张力成为福克纳南方家族小说中矛盾、问题的缩影,也反映作家对人类主体运命、困境、出路的深切关注。这一空间意义的探讨不仅拓展小说的文本意义,更对了解福克纳的南方文学创作观有所启迪。＂Houses＂constitute an important narrative element in William Faulkner＇s Light in August, as well as the incarnation of subjects＇ being. Intrinsically being ＂private＂, they stabilize personal history and are precategorically the space of representation of subjects＇ self-cognition, ＂embodying＂ the predicament of subjects in the suppressive and rigid South. Meanwhile, they work as the representational space of the ruthless Southern practices and are ingrained with subjects＇ fight against the imprisonment to achieve the subjective development. The tension between houses and subjects epitomizes the prevalent problems in Faulknerian family legends, and reflects his deep concern for human subjects＇ interpretation and sheds light destiny, predicament and way out. The attempt enriches the textual on a keener insight into Faulkner＇s Southern literary creation.
