摘　　要：欲望是隐藏在美国作家菲利普·罗斯小说中的重要主题。纵观罗斯的作品,欲望主题贯穿始终。本文结合菲利普·罗斯不同时期的几部代表作品,主要从人类的本能和欲望个体所处的社会环境,如犹太传统文化、美国社会主流思潮和历史语境等方面来探讨罗斯小说人物沉溺欲海的深层动因。Desire is an important theme encompassing and running through in the USA writer, Philip Roth＇s novels. Based on his several representative works in different periods, mainly from the human instinct and desires of individual social environment, such as the traditional Jewish culture and the mainstream of American society, this paper explores the deep reason of the characters＇ drowning in the sea of desire in Roth＇s works.
