“Mythologism”redefined by the author refers to the use and reconstruction of myths in con-temporary societies, when myths are taken out of the daily life of communities in which they previously existed and replanted in new contexts for other audiences and endowed with new functions and meanings. This definition corresponds with the shift of tradition scholarship since 1960s,and also receives direct influences from the discussions on the concepts of “folklorism”and “folklorization”within the field of international folkloristics.Furthermore,it is a consequential development of my former research proj ect. This concept emphasizes on the appropriation and re-telling of myth in contemporary societies, and aims to broaden the mythologists’horizon and draws their attentions from the traditional daily life of communities into those new contexts in which myths are now displayed and consumed. This concept bears fundamental commons with neo-mythologism,but the latter goes much far away from the corpus of myth itself.
