摘　　要：《天南新报》是新加坡近代著名报纸,1898年创办伊始就广受好评,海内外影响巨大,史学界常常把它称作南洋保皇会机关报或海外维新派所办存续时间最长的报纸。但实际上《天南新报》数易其主,发展历程波折而又艰辛,办报宗旨并非一成不变,而是与中国的时局,与当地精英关注焦点,与生存需求,与办报人责任的觉悟紧密相关。梳理1904年《天南新报》主笔陈仲尧主导的报务整顿过程,可以看到,正是因为报馆及时作出因时因势地调整,才又渡过了一次生存危机,而这一过程成为后续新加坡报纸现代性变革的启蒙,并为南洋华侨报业的发展做出了卓越贡献。Thien Nan Shin Pap is a Singaporean famous newspaper in modern times. It had received critical acclaim since it was founded in 1898, and had been regarded as the official newspaper of Southeast Asia Royalist Party,and the official newspaper of overseas Reformist which lasted the maximum existence. As a matter of fact, Thien Nan Shin Pap went through several changes of proprietors, and its propaganda direction is not always the same. It has been changing according to the current political situations ,the attention focuses of the local elites, its own survival, and the proprietor＇s conscience of duty. By analyzing Chen Zhongyao＇s reorganization of the business process,who was then the chief editor of the newspaper in 1904,we can see it was because of his duly adjustment that helped the newspaper tide over the crisis of survival. This process can be seen as the enlightenment of Singaporean press modernization, making outstanding contributions to South Asian Chinese newspaper industry.
